Allies Sink North Viet boat off South Vietnam coast
Allied gun boats and planes sank a 160 foot North Vietnamese trawler off the Oa Mau Peninsula after a two hour battle. The action, first naval clash since November 23, 1970, occurred as U S forces reported ongoing fighting around Fire Base 6 in the Central Highlands. A U S F-100 crashed while a UH 1 helicopter was shot down. crew were rescued. Easter services were held at other bases amid the conflict.

War critics arrested at Syracuse Easter mass disruption
Six protesters including a Lutheran minister were arrested at the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception after disrupting the 11 a.m. Mass by parading a cross with a Vietnamese peasant’s hat. They belonged to the Freedom Encampment, planning a Buffalo to New York City pilgrimage to protest war and discrimination. About 30 members were in Syracuse for the weekend.

Red China backs Pakistan in East Pakistan clash
China denounced the United States Soviet Union and India Sunday for interfering in Pakistan affairs and pledged support for the Karachi government in its moves against the Bengali independence movement.
