Disastrous Fire Destroys Howard Swain Farm Granary
A blaze at the Howard Swain farm, 12 miles northeast of Sidney, destroyed a granary and machine shed with all grain and machinery. Two autos were saved by quick actions as the fire progressed. The 50 foot long building held grain and harvesting equipment. no effort to save contents was possible. Cause undetermined but shale crack may have started the fire. Buildings were insured. grain and machinery total loss.

Fort Collins Golfer Dominates Open Meet in Local Course
Don Chapin, a rising Fort Collins golfer, won the 36 hole open tournament here on Sunday by nine strokes, posting 133. He ran a 31 on the inward nine with four birds and five pars, shot 67 in the morning, and claimed medalist honors though his afternoon was one stroke higher. Sam Daniel and Jay Closman followed for runner up and third, Lew Eliott placed fourth, while P. C. McCreary led the president’s flight with 155 and R. Dalton Fall Festival Scheduled for October 2 and 3
The tenth annual Dalton Fall Festival will be staged on Thursday and Friday October 2 and 3 in Cheyenne county. A large crowd is expected if weather holds, with attractions including an agricultural and livestock exhibit, entertainment program, a water fight, a boys bicycle race, and a motion picture from the state game commission.
