Closman Wins Fall Golf Meet With Record 140
Jay Closman of Sidney Country Club nerves the weather to capture medalist honors with 73 and finish the 36 hole event in 67 for a total 140. Lew Elliott Sterling pressed Closman but wound with 146 as 71 golfers played through a windy day despite rain and cold. Other flight winners include Scottsbluff’s FIrgs and McCreary and Sterling’s Weakley and Connell.

A free gate admission drew a record crowd for the Cheyenne county fair closing day. Officials estimate 6000 plus attended as cars lined the grounds and parade floats and school contests entertained. Potter team dominated local baseball while Smelter led a tight 3 4 mile race.

Trio Who Assaulted Deputy Sheriff Given Sentences
Three men jailed after assaulting Deputy Sheriff George Sheldon near Sunol on September 11 received sentences in district court. Robert Plew, 25, was given five years in the state penitentiary for firing three shots. James O’Brien, 18, and Joseph Bilpo were each sentenced to two years in the state reformatory.

Botulism Fatal For West Dalton Farm Lady
