Jack Daughtery a 16 year old Omaha boy sustained gapping head wounds and a nearly severed ear after a car overturned east of Sidney while passing another vehicle. Four other occupants escaped injury. James Farrell 62 longtime Sidney resident died Thursday night after months of ill health in a local hospital. Former Colorado and Southern railroad official in Denver and Cheyenne, he helped found an oil field near Wellington. Survived by four children and his wife, who preceded him in death. Body sent to Denver for interment at Mount Olivet with Gehrig Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Harvey Wright Dead. Funeral at Chappell Sunol resident dies
Harvey Wright 55 of Sunol and former Sidney resident died Saturday in a Chappell hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Chappell Methodist church and burial was in Chappell cemetery. He is survived by his wife Carol, two children, and several brothers and sisters. The Wrights lived in Oregon before returning to Sunol. Zimmer Funeral Home of Chappell arranged arrangements.

Lincoln county authorities renewed efforts to identify a person now known to have died in a burned Peterson Transfer truck east of Brady. The crash killed three other riders in a Watson truck. Soldier dies after emergency operation on hitchhiking furlough
A 21-year-old soldier, Paul Calvin Bender of Jasonville Indiana, died in a Sidney hospital Thursday night after an emergency operation for a ruptured appendix begun days earlier. He had been found critically ill in Potter and had endured nearly a day of severe pain while trying to reach a doctor.

Five Million Wheat Loans In Nebraska
Fred S. Wallace, chairman of the Nebraska agricultural conservation committee, reports that 10,179 growers have stored 5,773,225 bushels of wheat upon which they have obtained loans totaling $4,019,444.41. The number of loans on the 1939 crop already exceeds twice the total for a year ago. In 1938, 4,126 borrowers obtained $2,080,258.86 on 3,629,363 bushels of wheat.
