The Cheyenne county fair will run September 15 to 18 with horse racing on days two to four, a strong livestock exhibit, and county school displays. Despite a lukewarm agri sector, organizers promise high quality events, dances each night, and a full pavilion for crops and handiwork.
The North Platte Valley Sportsmen association adopted a resolution to urge the Department of Biological Survey to shift Nebraska migratory birds open season from October 1 to 31. They argue October sees few geese or northern ducks in Nebraska and seek a fairer, nationwide alignment. Musical numbers included a string trio with J W Cochran, Mable Nelson, Mrs J W Johnson, and two vocal solos Gypsy Love Song and a second unspecified piece.
Dalton plans the annual fall festival on October 7 and 8 with entries day featuring an afternoon ball game and a main festival day. Organizers ban outside concessions, emphasizing a showy event with no grafting and a new livestock and poultry building, 38 by 60 feet, on lots near the ball diamond.
The Sidney country club will hold its annual fall golf tournament on Sunday September 20. Open to all entrants with an entry list over one hundred possible. Thirty six holes of medal play with 18 holes qualifying. Play starts at eight with entries due by nine. Entry fee two fifty includes a chicken dinner. Entries expected from Colorado Wyoming and Nebraska.
