Thieves Force Door Of Local Store For Cash
Thieves forced the rear door of the Herbert store and stole over 100 dollars in cash. Night Marshal Renfield discovered the break Sunday night around 10 30 while testing doors of local businesses. Police chief Livoni estimated the theft occurred between six and eight o'clock Sunday evening and said the thieves were probably in the store about ten minutes. A heavy wooden brace was pushed in to open the door just enough for entry. Contents of a small cash box in the office were dumped on the floor. checks and two dollars in cash were left behind. The cash register, which held more cash, was not touched. Mrs Herbert could not yet determine the exact amount taken. A statewide search was launched for intruders with officers posted along the Union Pacific line to stop transients aboard freights. The incident is being investigated as possibly connected to a Scottsbluff holdup.

The high winds last Friday forced Mrs Phosbe O’Meilie a Cleveland air derby winner and one of few women pilots to land near Sidney at the local field. She stayed over night cancelling a Scottsbluff engagement and departed Saturday morning for Grand Island where she was slated to speak that night. She called western Nebraska winds among the worst of her flying career.

Last Rites Held Saturday for Two Pioneer Citizens
Last rites were held Saturday for Hubert Fuller a Sidney pioneer rancher and stockman who died Wednesday. Services were led by Frank Welch Masonic lodge with J W Johnson as soloist and Dr Paul P Cheff praising his life. Interment followed at Sidney Greenwood cemetery with scout pallbearers and taps. Margaret Worden 85 also received Saturday funeral services at the Methodist church with Rev Charling Mills officiating and Gehlig funeral service in charge.
