The Cheyenne county farm bureau urges seed grain treatment as a profitable farm practice to guard against smut and other diseases. About 40 cars of Nebraska panhandle wheat were docked last year for smut. Three materials are used: copper carbonate for wheat, formaldehyde for oats, and New Improved Ceresan for oats and barley. Carpenter Bid for Oil Supply Rejected in Wyoming Field
The Interior department announced the rejection of the only bid for oil from the Lance Creek field in Wyoming. Officials said Terry Carpenter of Scottsbluff Nebraska bid too low and not in conformity with specifications. A private sale under the leasing act is under consideration.

Nebraska seeks over one million in aid for March quarter
The state assistance committee asked the federal social security board for $1,039,626 to fund Nebraska’s old age, blind and dependent children program for April, May and June. Funeral Held For Mrs Schoen In Gurley
Funeral services were held at Gurley Lutheran Church for Mrs Emily Henrietta Schoen widow of Gottloib C. Schoen who died Thursday night at her son John’s home three miles southeast of Gurley. Rev Hugh Dowler officiated and burial was in Sidney Greenwood Cemetery. The deceased was born July 9 1883 at Gladstone and aged 53 at death. She is survived by her husband two sons John of Gurley and Ernest of Dalton, her mother Mrs Matilda Witt of Grand Island two brothers Charles Witt of Thompson and Ernest Witt of Grand Island one daughter Mrs August Starck of Fairbury and two grandchildren.
