Firefighters at the W. A Sparks farm eight miles north of Sidney were burned when a gasoline tractor fuel truck exploded during a blaze. Driver Henry Yowell acted to move the truck downhill, saving buildings as crew members suffered head and neck burns. several others endured lesser injuries. The blast occurred during fueling from a Whitney Oil truck into an underground tank.

Max Fiestermann of Oshkosh was sentenced in federal court at Omaha to a minimum five year term on bank robbery charges. His accomplice remains at large. Drunken Driver Sent To Jail At Kimball
Ray C. Peterson of Dix pleaded guilty before County Judge Henry Vogler of Kimball to driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail and his drivers license revoked for one year from discharge. Mrs Lillian Mavart 36 of Chicago is in Kimball hospital with fractures to left arm both legs and a rib plus facial and body cuts after a 1936 Dodge skid on oil on a highway six miles east of Kimball. John Hunt 19 and Henry Hunt 17 of Los Angeles and Charles Ott 17 of Chicago had minor injuries. The party was traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles. Hunt said oil on wet pavement caused loss of control, car rolled into an alfalfa field on H Linn farm. Garage men note this is the fourth serious crash on this stretch in the past year.
