Frank Sis is charged with operating an automobile while intoxicated in a county court complaint filed Monday morning. He was picked up by two state highway patrolmen east of town around 12:30 a.m. Sis was released from custody pending a hearing before Judge Robert A. Barlow.

The Potter Review reports Western Public Service Company offered the village a wholesale energy sale requiring village and company boards approval. Kimball County Fair Cancelled This Year
Kimball County will not hold its annual fair due to an oversight by county commissioners causing insufficient funds. Aluminum Pick Up To Be Heard Here

Stickney Warehouse Destroyed By Blaze
Stickney's two story storage warehouse at Sterling was badly damaged by fire early Sunday and a large quantity of merchandise was lost. Bob Van Gundy, manager of the local Stickney store, witnessed the fire. Firemen called it one of Sterling's most spectacular blazes as tires and auto equipment stocked in the building burned.

Marine Recruiters To Visit Panhandle Area
Two United States Marine Corps recruiters will be at the Post Office in Scottsbluff from July 23 to July , interviewing applicants and enlisting young men. Small Hail Strike Hits Lodgepole Valley Crops
A hail storm ripped through Lodgepole Valley west of Sidney early Thursday, leveling ripening crops on several farms. Centered near Brownson, the storm hit around eight in the morning with heavy rain. about an inch of moisture fell in Brownson, tapering off toward Sidney. Wheat bound for harvest suffered most, though other crops were damaged as well.

Scramble Calves Finishing Exhibited at Cheyenne County Fair
Nine 4-H club boys prepared nine Catch It calves for the Cheyenne County Fair with calves fed out in satisfactory condition. The calves, donated by the Cheyenne County Farm Association, Sidney Chamber of Commerce, and eighteen local businessmen, will be shown in a separate class. Each boy was chosen by lottery to catch a calf and raise it as a vocational agriculture project, reporting to sponsors throughout the year. Sterling Woman Hurt In Accident Sunday
Sterling woman Mrs. Sisson was badly injured in a Sunday collision nine miles north of Browns when two cars driven by Andre Ditsch and William Sisson met at a hill crest. She, her husband, and a six year old niece were in the Sisson car. Ditsch and his wife had a six week old daughter. Dr. Roche treated her before an ambulance took her to Sterling. State Patrolman Alvin Jensen said the cars swerved to avoid a direct crash.

Wreck Victims Show Improvement Near Sidney
Two men injured in a west Sidney automobile wreck on July 5 are recovering at Taylor hospital. Dr. Donald Murphy of Detroit, with rib fractures, is improving under Dr. C. A. Bitner. Edwin Shannon of Weed, California, with a kidney injury, briefly left bed Saturday and may be discharged soon if his condition stays better under Dr. B. H. Grimm.

Stolen Checks Found But Cash Is Missing
Checks stolen from The Farmers Union Cooperative Gas and 641 Company office in Sidney were recovered by a Union Pacific section crew. The money pouches yielded only one penny in cash, with an estimated $100 missing from safes. Sheriff Schulz planned to dust for fingerprints on the recovered checks.

O. J. Weymouth joined the chamber of commerce yesterday to bring the 1941 paid-up membership to 101. Carl Jones, membership chairman, said this is the first time the group has surpassed one hundred. Prospects exist for one or two more joiners in the final half of the year. The regular meeting was a brief, hurried session with both the president and vice-president away. Charles Sill of Scottsbluff, former Burlington agent in Sidney, was a guest, as was Fred J. Johnson, new Sidney merchant. Attendance was low at twenty four due to vacations.

Western Electric crew begins work in Sidney
A Western Electric installation crew is working in Sidney on the new telephone building addition. Foreman H. W. Tilley says the crew will reach twenty men in two weeks. The work ties to the transcontinental cable line passing just south of the city, with Diamond Engineering Co. connecting the line to the building on 11th avenue.

Dalton boy in critical condition after bicycle collision
Roy Parady twelve of Dalton remains unconscious with brain concussion after a late Thursday crash on highway 19. Herman Applebaum of New York said the boy veered into the path of his car and attempted to avoid the impact by steering into a ditch. Applebaum and Milton Fleshner testified that avoiding the bicycle was impossible. A Denver brain specialist was summoned and a hearing by an insurer was held Friday.

Two Auto Accidents Reported By Patrol
W A Magwitz 25 of Scottsbluff suffered cuts and bruises when his car overturned a mile south of Dalton last Wednesday night. He says he fell asleep at the wheel. Companion Florence Olmes of Gering was unhurt. Mrs Margaret Light of Des Moines overturned at Point of Rocks Thursday morning. her mother Mrs Jessie Backlin escaped injury. Patrolman Alvin Jensen found a blowout caused both incidents.
