City budget OK'd after two hour planning board meeting
The Sidney planning board reported all city departments within the 1936-37 budget after a two hour session with the council and chamber of commerce. Street lighting will be reduced to meet the 6000 dollar allotment with current balances assuring four more months of operations. The board urged continuing the policy to avoid fiscal trouble seen in other Nebraska towns.

In Bridgeport on Sunday the Sidney Rifle Club lost a four position match 1818 to Bridgeport 1838 in frigid, unheated room conditions. The Sidney five placed Parks Sweet Pierson Doran and Mathews. This week opens the national gallery postal matches under the National Rifle Association with four man teams shooting two positions prone and offhand.

Obituary: John Siefer of Cheyenne County Dies at 73
John Siefer a long time Cheyenne county resident died Saturday at his home 12 miles northeast of Dalton after months of ill health and a prior stroke. Born in Alsace Lorraine France October 8 1863 he came to America at 18 settling in Booneville Iowa before moving west to Cheyenne county in 1887. He married Paola Frerichs in 1897 and leaves eight children six surviving with his widow plus 18 grandchildren and two step children Harm Dryer and Mrs Harm Hippen. He had been moved from Dalton hospital to his home.

Funeral services were held at the Dalton Presbyterian Church for Wilmuth Ann Hardin wife of James W. Hardin who died Thursday night after a long illness. She was 174 years old and had lived in Dalton since 1916. Survivors include her husband five sons and one daughter Alberta who died four years ago. Also two sisters and two brothers. The Rice Funeral Home supervised arrangements.

Miller Introduces Bill to Extend Highway 86 Across Region
Dr. A. L. Miller of Kimball introduced a bill in the legislature to extend Highway 86 between Northport and Keystone, seen as preserving a route if a cross river dam is built west of Keystone under the tri county project. Highway 86 runs from the Wyoming line south of the river to Broadwater where it meets Highway 26. If the dam is built, Highway 26 would be flooded from Lewellen to the dam site on the river’s north side.

Louis Rabe Dies at 76 After Long County Stay
Louis Rabe 76 died Sunday night of influenza at his daughter Mrs. Henry Kahler’s home in Sidney. A lifelong farmer who settled in Weyerts, he moved to Sidney in 1920 with a five year interval in Brighton, Colo. Survivors include his wife, two children, three siblings, 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral 1:30 Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran with Rev. Krohn. burial in Sidney Greenwood Cemetery.

Quartus Skinner completed a federal sentence for selling liquor to Indians and was freed after taking a poverty oath before U S commissioner Robert A Barlow. He had served time in lieu of payment of the fine, the fifth such release before Barlow in a month. Delinquent Tax Date Change Proposed in Legislature

William Lester Carson of Angora traveled to Scottsbluff to steal 15 sacks of corn from Harvey Ostenberg feed yards. A two team rabbit drive near Antelope Divide killed over 2800 rabbits last week. Team captained by C P Herbold Sheimer tallied around 1600, George Whitney led a rival squad with about 1200.
