Treinens Injured In Car Accident North Of Peetz
Mrs. John J. Treinen sustaining serious injuries after a Friday morning auto crash a mile north of Peetz. Her husband was slightly hurt as their car struck a gravel pile while en route to Denver. She was taken to a Sidney hospital for fractures and facial injuries. he received emergency care but was not hospitalized.

Sidney high school cagers edged Alliance 22 to 21 after an extra period in a Western Nebraska conference contest. Sidney led 12-6 at halftime and 14-11 after three, then Alliance tied in the final seconds before Fuller hit a long jumper to force OT. In the extra period the Maroons pulled away as fouls mounted, with Edwards leading Alliance and Craig and Golding fouling out for Sidney.

Corn Stocks Below Normal Despite Higher Farm Onhand
Nebraska farmers held 40,311,000 bushels more corn on farms in Jan but stock levels remained under 36 percent of normal, says A E Anderson state agricultural statistician. Report from Sidney says J. E. Mulick superintendent of the Union Pacific Nebraska division died suddenly in Omaha on Monday. Railroad men report no official notice yet but the line has spread the tale. Mulick was a veteran railroad man, widely known in Sidney.

Floyd Evertson, 17, of Kimball died from an internal brain hemorrhage after an ice skating accident last Thursday. He showed no symptoms until Saturday night when severe headaches began. doctors called the case very unusual. Surviving are his parents, four sisters, and a brother.

Rites Held for Mrs Harriet H Sanders in Potter
Funeral services were held Monday at Potter Methodist Church for Mrs Harriet Helen Sanders wife of Irving E Sanders of Potter. Interment in Sanders cemetery northeast of Potter. She died Friday in a Kearney hospital after long illness. A Scribner native, she was daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Harms. Survivors include husband two children Berdette and Jeanette, her parents, a brother Edwood Harms and two sisters Marjorie and Betty Lou.

Farm Bureau Names One New Director At Annual Convention
At the Cheyenne county Farm Bureau annual meeting in Sidney Friday afternoon three of four retiring directors were reelected. John Treinen declined reelection. Mrs. Frank Meier was named to replace the other director. About 50 farmers attended as AR E Holland and J P Ross spoke for the state extension service. Agricultural Agent J C Swinbank reported the annual finances and both the Farm Bureau and the non stock cooperative reviewed a year of generally favorable programs despite tough conditions. The board will meet to elect officers and map a 1938 program.

Keystone dam project sprouts 1000 workers March first
More than 1000 workers will move to the Keystone dam site near Ogallala on March 1 as part of the Tri County project. The dam, roughly two miles long and 170 feet high, will create a reservoir about 27 miles long and six to ten miles wide, storing about 2.4 million acre-feet of water. Construction by Morrison Utah General Co. under George J. Youmans will cost about 31 million dollars and span five years. The Union Pacific will relocate 33 miles of track, two towns Keystone and Lemoyne will shift about a mile north, and five stations will move with the rails.

Brand Registration Deadline For Nebraska Stockmen
Secretary of State Swanson warned cattlemen they have until February 1 to renew their livestock brands or lose brand rights. He sent warning memoranda to county clerks, agricultural agents and banks. Bryan Threatens New Party For Tax Reform Drive
Former Nebraska governor and Lincoln mayor Charles W. Bryan said he would back an independent slate of candidates for state offices next fall if needed to pass his tax equalization plan. He outlined exemptions for homesteads to 35000, a state income tax on stock and bond investors, taxes on tax exempt securities, luxuries, and government salaries, plus reduced state costs. He did not confirm plans to head the slate, noting he has not promised to be a candidate. A petition campaign to place the issue before voters in 1938 is under way with at least 59421 signatures targeted.
