Railroad special agents cracked down on Union Pacific coal theft last week arresting four men. Hector Anderson and William Robbins were fined $1 and costs after confessing to stealing coal for personal use. Joseph Fraundorfer and Kenneth Reisdorff received 15 days in jail for stealing coal for sale and possessing four trailer loads. Fraundorfer is serving. Reisdorff will serve during unemployment periods. Police note thefts have surged this year with hundreds of sacks taken from a coal pile near the round house.

Charity ward reveals $1600 due from old policy
A county relief family learned that an uncollected life annuity of 200 yearly for ten years, starting at 70, was owed to Frank J. Royer. The policy, sold by the late Gus Wellner, had never been applied. $1600 now sent, with two more $200 installments anticipated, and guardianship arranged as Royer is declared sane but the funds placed in his wife's name.

A shoulder to shoulder rifle match was held in the dance pavilion south of Bridgeport between the Sidney rifle club and the Bridgeport club. Nebraska legislators moved a bill to postpone rent payments on state school lands after crops were damaged.
