Rev Joseph M. Nolan 28 assistant pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Scottsbluff died Sunday in Omaha after pancreatitis. Born at Wood River he studied at Creighton Saint Louis and St John seminary Little Rock. Ordained 1936 at Grand Island he served Alliance Sidney and Scotts Bluff this fall. The Lodge Pole Valley Athletic Association held a district declamatory contest in Dalton. Dalton led with three superior ratings and one excellent, Potter followed with two superiors and one good, Lodge Pole had one superior and one excellent. Other entrants earning excellent ratings included Bushnell Sunol and Lorenzo. Joe Martin, chef at the Union Pacific Hotel, learned yesterday of the death of his adopted son L. L. A. Diller, 32, of Hagerstown MD, from monoxide poisoning. Diller, sales manager for an aluminum products company, was overcome in a company truck Sunday evening. revival attempts failed and he died about 6 40 Monday morning. Mr. Martin left last night to attend the funeral.

Legion Post 17 in Sidney Receives National Distinction
