Federal loans of 45 cents per bushel on corn in the crib are now available to Cheyenne county farmers, announced by County Agent L. D. Willey. Applications and an inspection fee are required, with notes due August 1, 1934, and 4 percent interest. Farmers must store a specified amount in an inspector approved bin and sign corn hog reduction contracts when available.

Floorless Bins Approved for Federal Corn Loans
The state railways commission announced that corn stored in floorless bins is eligible for federal loans if 18 inches is deducted from bin height in loan calculations. W S Bradley of the federal agriculture department called the ruling important, expanding loan access. Previous liberalizations allowed flat or wire bins with protections. open bins require weatherproof roofing and a maximum bin diameter of 16 feet.

Potter Man Killed in Early Sunday Car Crash
Donald A. McMillan, 23, of Potter was instantly killed when a car he drove overturned six miles east of Potter early Sunday. His father Archie McMillan was seriously injured and passenger Hite sustained minor injuries. The cause is blamed on a possible flat tire. Funeral services are set for 2:30 this afternoon with burial in the Potter Cemetery.

Edward L. McLernon Dies in Denver at 84
Edward L. McLernon aged 84 longtime Sidney merchant and pioneer of western Nebraska died Saturday noon at the home of his daughter Mrs Rex Consigny in Denver. Born in Ireland he came to the United States as a young man and moved to Sidney in the late 1870s. He worked with Dennis Carrigan before becoming a teacher and later opened his own mercantile business. He retired selling to Greenlee and Benson, later Greenlees Inc., and lived in Portland before returning to Sidney. He moved to Denver for care after a period of illness. He was active in agriculture and irrigation research in Lodge Pole valley and remained vigorous until two years before his death.

Provisions of the proposed Nebraska bank code excluding Omaha and Lincoln were announced by W. B. Hughes. The code will go to the national committee in New York and then to Washington if approved. A final meeting on a uniform code for Omaha and Lincoln banks is planned this week. Smaller clearing house cities will set their own codes with terms including 42 hours weekly banks may operate, 3 percent interest on CDs and savings, 50 cent monthly service charge under $50 balance with five free checks, overdraft charges, and 25 cent per check for NSF items.
