Pony Express Diamond Jubilee Medals Awarded In Sidney
Local volunteers received medals struck to honor the Pony Express diamond jubilee memorial ride. More medals will be sold to fund the celebration. The medals show a rider on the trail with 1860 and 1935 dates and the Oregon Trail Memorial Association inscription.

Tri State Ball Meet Planned in Sidney This Month
Plans are underway for the second annual tri state baseball tournament in Sidney from August 25 to September 1. At least a half dozen teams have inquired about dates. Bud Robineau expects more teams and larger crowds than last year, with possible entrants from Denver and Lexington. Sidney and Potter will represent Cheyenne County, Chappell and Oshkosh expected to bid for the title. Fort Warren may send teams. Continued on page 6.

Bushnell Marshall Stabbed During Altercation Fight
Marshal W. J. Smith of Bushnell was stabbed last week in an altercation with Arleigh Jones of Bayard. Jones, said to be intoxicated, was charged with resisting arrest. His companion Howard Earnest received ten days jail for intoxication thirty days for driving while intoxicated and one year license suspension.

Boyd Investigation Is Pressed By Officers
Sheriff Salisbury of North Platte said the death of Ernest A. Boyd a 60 year old railroad employee found dead in a park August 3 had witness statements placing him in the park alone about midnight a pistol shot heard by park policemen 15 minutes later and he now believes Boyd may have taken his own life despite a coroner s jury verdict of slaying.

Banner County Man Is Robbed By Passenger
William Lee, a Harrisburg farmer, was robbed of 90 dollars after accepting a hitchhiker's ride between Sterling and Fort Morgan while driving a cattle load to Denver. A gun was pressed against his ribs when a truck animal spooked. the thief took the money and ordered Lee to drive on.

Five in car crash near Sidney face injuries and death
A late Thursday auto crash ten miles east of Sidney left Mrs. Adam J. Ross dead and others seriously injured. Husband Adam J. Ross and daughter Rowland A. Bartell were treated and showing slow improvement. Harriet Ross and Thelma Bartell remained hospitalized with Harriet recovering steadily. Mrs Bartell described a weave before the wheel locked and the car veered into a ditch. a large wood fragment in a rear tire was noted.

Three Men Held For Cattle Thieving Case
Charles Cizek of Potter waived preliminary hearing in Scotts Bluff County Court and was bound over to district court on stealing three steers belonging to C. W. Johnson and sons of Potter. Frostrom pleaded guilty in district court, and Ivan M. Canning of Scottsbluff pleaded not guilty in county court after a preliminary hearing. Frostrom testified Cizek drove a truck carrying the cattle from Frostrom’s home to the Henry Hersch slaughter house west of Scottsbluff on July 22.
