A spring blizzard and rain disrupted communications and transport across the western territory. In Sidney area gauges showed moisture from three quarters to one and a half inches. Northwestern Bell faced heavy losses with 100 poles down and 2000 wire breaks between Sidney and Chappell. Repair crews from Sidney Lex ington Omaha and Grand Island plus 20 locals worked to restore service. Full restoration of all lines could take two weeks.

Annual Rifle Contest At Bridgeport Soon
Bridgeport riflemen will host shooters from Colorado Wyoming and Nebraska for the fifth annual Tri-State shoot on Sunday April 27 at Morrill county fair grounds pavilion. Three championship cups will be awarded with cash prizes and medals and merchandise prizes provided. The gold team cup is awarded each year to the championship team and has been held by the Sidney club, with Bridgeport Sidney and Harrisburg as previous winners.
