Colonel Persinger Dies in Alabama Visit at 83
Colonel A B Persinger, pioneer merchant and rancher of western Nebraska, died Saturday morning in a Tuscaloosa Alabama hospital at age 83 after four months of confinement. He lived in Lodgepole, Nebraska, and had spent many winters visiting his daughter in Alabama. Born in Northport Alabama, he moved west in the 1870s, first to Sterling then Sidney in 1875, building a substantial fortune in merchandising and ranching across the panhandle. He earlier worked as a typesetter for the Sidney Telegraph. The obituary notes his prominence among western Nebraska old timers.
