Service For Alber To Be At Dalton Today
Funeral services for Charles Alber 73 will be held at Dalton Catholic church with Rev James Fullam officiating. Interment in Dalton cemetery Gehrig Funeral Home directing. Alber died at his Dalton area home after a winter of failing health. He lived in the United States 63 years and previously resided in Iowa and Petersburg Nebraska before moving to Cheyenne county twenty four years ago. Survivors include his widow Lena six children Alfred Carl Francis of Bridgeport Barney Lena Troidl Gurley and Anna Edwards Seattle. two children preceded. nineteen grandchildren.

Archie Jones Dies Veteran Leader in Mitchell Nebraska
Archie B. Jones 60, a prominent American Legion official and former Fourth District Commander, died Saturday at a Scottsbluff hospital after months of ill health. He settled in the North Platte valley before World War I, served, and afterward led veterans work, earning the nickname "daddy of the post" in Mitchell where he helped win the charter and served as commander and later service officer. The Mitchell post is noted for strength and solid finances.

Three Scottsbluff youths were blamed by Washoe County Wyoming authorities for a crime spree from Gurley to Lirgle. Merle Luther 18 and Melvin French 17 are jailed in Torrington. Johison is at Fort Lewis Washington awaiting possible extradition. Charges filed include breaking and entering a Torrington filling station with ties to six other robberies. About $200 in cash and merchandise were taken.

Military Move Through Here Draws Interest
A large military convoy moved through Nebraska on highway 30 Sunday and Monday, transporting the first and twentieth infantry from Fort Warren Wyoming toward Fort Leavenworth Kansas with plans to reassign at least one regiment to Tennessee. Nearly two hundred vehicles from the twentieth infantry and about 175 from the first infantry passed Sidney en route. State patrols escorted the column, halting cross traffic in each town, with Alvin Jensen and Dale Babcock meeting convoys at the Wyoming line and North Platte patrols continuing the escort.

New Golf Pro Comes to Town This Week
Roy Andersen, 22 and the state’s youngest pro, resigns from East Falls to join Sidney Country Club for the summer season. He leaves today to begin the 1941 campaign and will coach the Sidney high school team. Mrs Robert Bickel, 21, died in a Denver hospital at two a.m. Monday as her husband, a sailor stationed in Hawaii, raced to her bedside. Diagnosed with ascending paralysis linked to polio or polyneuritis, she had been in an iron lung since March 21 at Steele Hospital.

Sidney high school athletic director Lewis H. Brown resigned effective April 4 to take a position with International Harvester Co. He will live in Sidney and work in a territory covering parts of Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. Brown cited a long standing opportunity and board approval followed. He came here three years ago from Loup City and directed football and physical education across grades, with active track and field duties. A University of Nebraska graduate, he studied business administration and will apply it in his new role.

Dennis Walsh Early Homesteader Dies in Nebraska
Dennis Walsh 75 a Nebraska homesteader who came from Ireland at 16 died Thursday in Crappell hospital after a long residency on a Bridgeport area homestead and a Lodgepole farm. He married Sarah Jane in 1904 at St Patrick's Sidney and is survived by his widow and three children Dennis Everett and Mary.
