Premier Smith announced in Calgary that Alberta will build or modernize 50,000 education spaces and create 150,000 spaces over four years under a School Construction Accelerator program. The plan targets 30 new schools each year through budget 27, with 90 more underway in high-need areas and modular classrooms for 20,000 seats. The initiative aims to deliver over 200,000 student spaces in seven years while speeding project approvals and adjusting funding models for staff.
