Taber RCMP responded to a severe crash on Highway 38 about 23 kilometers east of Taber at around 7 p.m. No traffic could pass while a collision reconstructionist attended. The highway was expected to be impassable for hours. By 7:40 a.m. the next day traffic resumed on Highway 3 and police awaited further details later in the day.

Medicine Hat's chief Crown prosecutor Jason Cowan has been appointed as a provincial court justice in the southern region. The Alberta Ministry of Justice announced Dec 4, along with two other appointments linked to Calgary and Edmonton divisions. Cowan, a 2008 University of Saskatchewan Law alum, rose to deputy chief Crown prosecutor in 2023 and acting chief prosecutor for regional prosecutions earlier this month. his judgeship takes effect Dec 16.
