Alberta Creates Interdiction Patrol Team At Border
Premier Danielle Smith announced an Interdiction Patrol Team within the Alberta Sheriffs to crack down on drug smuggling gun trafficking and other illegal border activities along Alberta's 298 kilometre border. The IPT will include 51 uniformed officers 10 support staff four drug patrol dogs 10 drones and four narcotics analyzers and starts in early 2025 with a two kilometre deep border zone allowing warrantless arrests for cross border illegal activity. The plan costs 29 million and follows President elect Trump's tariff threats cited by Smith and Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis.

Postal union blasts federal ruling on postal workers strike
