The city may issue one dollar scrip, redeemable after 52 passes, to fund public projects and aid workers. Merchants would accept it with a two cent discount after stamping, boosting purchasing power while avoiding public expense. Details to be worked out.
Mobile county board of revenue members will be urged to voluntarily reduce their salaries. Commissioner A B Jeffries will recommend a uniform cut across the board and in the engineering department after wage reductions in the road department. He did not reveal how much the pay cut would be.
Out of every dollar involved in taking and shipping oysters at least 85 cents remains in either Mobile or Baldwin. This unusually high percentage stands out for any industry and suggests Alabama should encourage oyster operations.

Longview Texas March 25 the Longview Chamber of Commerce and 52 oil operators plus private citizens wired Secretary Ickes asking immediate federal control of eastern Texas oil fields. Efforts also aimed to secure signatures from all banks in the region for a similar request.
Secretary of State Cordell Hull warned that France and other defaulting nations must pay their December debts to be considered in future talks on debt reductions. He distinguished Britain and Italy as meeting obligations, saying the United States may not sit in on future discussions with defaulting governments.

C M A Rogers prominent Mobile attorney and former lower house member announces his candidacy for Alabama state senator from Mobile County in the 1934 Democratic primary. Senator John Craft may seek reelection. Dr Turner Granade also plans to run. Rogers pledges to push laws to keep state and Mobile County within their incomes.
At least 150 Rotarians from the Twenty six district of the international organization plan to assemble in Mobile Monday morning for the elev nth annual conference. Past President Clarence Cowan of Mobile said the number should exceed 200. The Battle House hosts the two day meeting focused on civic responsibility and Rotary expansion. Fifty three such gatherings are held in the United States and Canada this spring with total attendance over 50 000. The Mobile conference ranks second to the international convention in Boston June 26 30. Delegations from every Rotary club in the district attend along with several prominent Rotarians from elsewhere.
Murphy High will host a vocational school event led by mobile business figures on March 28 from 10 45 to 12 00. Principal K J Clark invites prominent Mobilians to speak on various successful lines of work and explain the field, opportunities, and drawbacks to students, followed by a luncheon.
Policeman John H. Kruse found a man about 35 to 40 years old unconscious in the street near 310 South Conception. Taken to City hospital, he remained coma at a late hour with no identifying papers among his effects. Forehead bruise noted. condition and identity undetermined.
Leonard C. Godwin 32, chief gunner's mate on the coast guard cutter Gresham, died after injuries from an automobile collision at Broad and Tennessee streets. The driver, L. G. French, said Godwin walked into the street. charges to be amended from reckless driving to manslaughter. Godwin, stationed in port, died en route to Marine Hospital.
Judge William C. Lansdon of the United States Board of Tax Appeals will hear income tax appeals starting at 9 30 Monday in the federal court room customs house in Mobile. About 200000 in taxes is involved for 27 firms including East Alabama Lumber Gulf Mobile and Northern Rail Sam A Neville George Fern and Co Fairhope Transportation Phillips Furniture and First National Bank. Government attorneys DeWitt Evans Warren Watters Hartford Allen and Thomas Callahan will represent the internal revenue department.
W S Moore of 1103 South Washington avenue was held up near the state docks by two masked gunmen on Saturday night. They took his $65 watch and $8, then ordered him to walk away from his car for an escape on foot. He reported the robbery at police headquarters.
In Mobile the two rival school board factions deadlocked over electing a fifth commissioner. A motion to resign en masse and let Dr. Harman appoint a new board failed as the two to two votes persisted. Abbot proposed resignations while Reaves and Eldridge declined to act. Luscher backed McLeod for the vacancy.
In San Francisco on March 25 Judge Louis H. Ward ordered Tom Mooney to stand trial again for murder related to the 1916 preparedness day parade bombing. The date set for the trial is April 26. Mooney and Warren K. Billings were previously convicted and imprisoned, with other indictments dismissed.
Walter H. Zingelmann, the German consul in Mobile, issued a statement denying reports of persecution of German Jews by the Hitler government. He said authorities have declared there will be no tolerance for disturbing actions and that alleged molestation of foreigners or Jews is unsubstantiated and a swindle, with the American ambassador in Germany confirming the facts.
