Mrs. H. H. Adee came back last Sunday from Chicago. Mr. Adee who accompanied her planned to stay with relatives in the city for a week.

Mrs. Henry Scheele of Diller visited friends here Thursday. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Weaver on Friday, September 1. Chester Scharmann is in Chicago this week attending the World's Fair. Art Overton and family of Lincoln were guests in the E. J. Wells home Labor Day, returning to Lincoln in the evening. Mrs. Fay D. Clark, Mrs. H. M. Manning, Mrs. E. O. Cassell, Neil Drake, and Elsie Franzen were Lincoln visitors Monday. The Fairbury Electric Shoe Shop advertises harness and shoe repairs. C. Wilson and family of Hastings, Will Eden and family, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Wilson. Harold Staley and wife and Harry McCord and wife were weekend guests at the Herbert Staley home near Hebron. Mrs. Charles Donegan and son of Greenleaf, Kansas, visited here over the weekend. Albert Holtz and wife of Fairbury were Sunday guests in the home of his brother, Dick Silkett. Charlies Coons left Thursday for Oklahoma City after weeks here for the Coons estate.
J. L. Davis was hired last Friday to transport Ralph Arner and family goods to Scribner as they relocate. Clair Darling departed Monday to Omaha with a cattle load for Oakley Goldsberry, accompanied by Mr. Goldsberry. Genevieve Drake traveled to Geneva late last week to start teaching in the city public schools.
Mr and Mrs C C Andrews and daughter Margaret return from a three weeks visit in Denver and Steamboat Springs Colorado. Margaret Lincoln leaves for Chicago to resume teaching at Austin High School. Chas Gehrt visits Plymouth with son LeRoy. Hazel Totten Mina Crowl and Patty Anne Crowl visit relatives. Elmer Baird reports for Omaha duty. Mrs Baird stays with her parents. Calvin Sampson on seven days leave visits his parents in Chadron Nebraska.
The day’s service themed Fellowship with God drew a large congregation. The Young People’s choir sang Sweetier as the Years Go By. A social hour at 6:30 begins next Sunday with Ruth Garrett guiding Juniors later. Miss Henriksen oversees Intermediate work and Miss Garrett leads Junior program. The Missionary Society meets Wednesday September 13 with a pageant Operation or Cooperation.

Miss Larie Bristor daughter of Abner Bristor of Diller Nebraska married Carl Fahrenwald son of Mr and Mrs H J Fahrenwald in a Wash ington Kansas ceremony August 20 The couple were teachers and locals with Carl known for work in his father’s garage and as a sign painter Friends gathered at the Fahrenwald home to toast the couple.
The Village Board issued a beer license to E. J. Wells earlier this week after a lengthy legal dispute. The board overrode a remonstrance petition by cross checking petition signer names with last election poll books and proceeded without a regulating ordinance for 3:2 beer.
Mrs. Emma Pearson, after recovering from May automobile injuries in Leavenworth Kansas, came home Wednesday night. She was accompanied by Mrs. Ethel Miller and three boys. Mrs. Miller will visit in the homes of Mrs. Pearson, R. T. Garrett, and C. A. Pearson for a few days.
Carl Mitchell comes back to Steele City on Saturday after being released from forestry service duties. He says camp life enriched him and he has many pictures of camp activity to share with friends.
Allen Bridwell and wife transfer West 50 foot lots 5 and 6 in block 3 to Howard W. Deems. Helia H. Holliday widower transfers north zero feet lots 1 to 4 in block 2 Steele City for $10. The note references transfers reported this week by J Monroe Davis and Son.

The Temporary Jefferson County Wheat Allotment Committee schedules meetings on September 12 at 8 p m in multiple precincts to elect directors for the Jefferson County Wheat Production Control Association. Eligible wheat producers who filed allotment applications may vote. those not yet filed should bring signed applications as proof of vote rights.
