The B B Kensington met at Mrs Bernice Stef ford home with twelve members present. President Mrs Walkens led a Memorial Day themed roll call and a short business meeting followed by embroidery tea towels for the hostess. Next gathering slated for June 11 at Mrs W H Crane and Mr Agnes Crane Wright home. Dr I N Morgan and Carl Backes attended as business visitors in Beatrice midweek.

George Sutton, from a CCC camp in Lawrence, returned to duties after a week with his parents.

Presbyterian Church Memorial Service Remembers Faithful Members
A memorial service at the Presbyterian Church was well attended last Sunday with H. F. Matton of Beatrice giving the address assisted by H. D. Bancroft. Rev. Filinger expects to return from Cincinnati later this week. The Mother-Daughter banquet in the church Friday drew a large crowd and a bountiful meal followed by a strong program. The Missionary Society thanks all helpers for the successful event.

Memorial Day Address by Judge Messmore at Improvement Co Hall
Memorial Day services were led by Judge Fred W. Messmore at the Improvement Co hall under Campbell Cline Legion post. The program featured prayers by Dr. I N. Morgan, a reading by Miss Lucille Taylor, and a Gettysburg address by H M Manning. Messmore urged military training for youths, argued warcauses, and urged moral reflection on liberty and national attitudes. The Legion then proceeded to hold additional ceremonies at the cemetery.

The Steele City high school alumni reception is set for Friday evening June 7 at seven o'clock with informal entertainment and a buffet supper. Expenses this year are reduced to thirty five cents covering all dues and supper. The committee urges quick replies to Virgil Bugbee and promises refunds if the event is not enjoyable.
