Steele City Launches First Air Mail Run
On May 19 1938 at 1235 pilots Carl A Goodman of Lincoln Nebraska departed Steele City for Jansen Tobias arriving Lincoln at 210 pm The first Air Mail pick up from Steele City carried 112 letters and a 20 ounce parcel totaling 7 pounds witnessed by about 150 people The American Legion oversaw the landing field and Steele City sent mail to nearly every state plus Canada.

Degree of Honor Lodge to Host District Convention
The Degree of Honor Lodge of Steele City plans to host the upcoming District Convention this fall with Mrs. Florence McCarty assisting. Participating lodges include Fairbury, Wymore, Blue Springs, Alexandria, and Davenport. Charles Ankram, son of Edith Goeins of Fairbury, died Tuesday morning and will be buried in Steele City Cemetery after services at Traum's Funeral Home in Fairbury Saturday afternoon.
