Missionary Society announces Friday May 24 banquet at the First Presbyterian church. It is a regular covered dish dinner with two person price, attendees bring dishes for themselves and guests. No fixed menu or seating, meal served at 6 pm, toasts and program follow the supper.
Miss Euniece Garber became the bride of Harold Erickson May 11 in Topeka Kansas. The couple plan to live in Lawrence after September 1. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mrs Bertha Garber, and the groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Erickson of Cleburn Kansas. Erickson is a KU engineering graduate and has worked with the state highway commission since 1933.
Voters will decide on a wheat contract extension and a nationwide referendum to be held next week. The county polling place opens at noon and will be staffed by local election officials. residents are advised to call No. 303 for details.
A postponed kittenball meeting will be held here next Monday evening to organize teams for Steele City defense. All interested persons are urged to attend. Also noted are social visits of Mrs. J. Garber’s guest J. Garber and Gayle Garber, and Lula Petsch weekend visit with her parents.
The Steele City church announces an evening service with a play under Mrs. Agnes Crane Wright, plus a Mother's Day service and a baccalaureate for the class of 1935. Poppy Day activities are set by Mrs. M E Morgan with proceeds aiding Legion and Auxiliary welfare work. Community notices include Lady's Aid plans, Missionary society meeting, Young Women's Guild events, assembly and memorial services, and a public auction at Clark residence May 18.
Audi Arabee and Tobias Werte joined at a Sunday gathering in Mrs Brabee’s home. Mr and Mrs J W Haddix hosted, while A H Gretzinger’s house awaits fresh outside paint by Carl McVonald. Mrs G B Cassell and Mrs RE Cassel visited Lincoln on Tuesday. Geese seen in neighboring field.
Steele City vocal trio Steele City Girls auditioned at KFAB in Lincoln and were advised to enter Miss Hollie Wood s Opportunity Hour on May 19. Their success will be determined by fan letters votes received at the station as the Casaleaux Trio plus banjo accompaniment by Lowell R Blair. The program begins at 5 45 Sunday afternoon.
