The Steele City high school class of 1929 commencement was held at the Steele City community hall on Thursday May 14. Diplomas were awarded to eighth grade graduates and to members of the class of 29.
Missus Beulah Deems Helen Wehling and Mary Edgington of Lincoln spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives in Steele City enjoying a family reunion and local hospitality.
Miss Susan Taylor a Nebraska university journalism graduate returns to Steel City from Independence Missouri where she worked in newspapers. She previously worked in Kansas City and now visits her mother Mrs. Drana Taylor and relatives.

Lou Wenz and family visited relatives in Diller Sunday. J Earl Dean of Hollenberg visited Steele City on Thursday. Teat Givens and wife of Loveland Colorado and Chas Weber of Hollenberg were Sunday guests at the J Weber home in Steele City. John Drake and wife of Western were guests at the home of Mrs Mary in Steele City Wednesday evening. Drake and Mr and Mrs Dickerson and two sons of Central City Nebraska were guests at the Clarence Sands home and left Wednesday. Ladies Aid to meet in church parlors on Wednesday May 22 1929. Heavy precipitation last Friday gave the region 2.6 inches of moisture. Weather here the past week was cold. Chester Wilcox sold the local chick market this week with seventy five spring chickens averaging two and one half pounds each at 34 cents a pound. The American Legion Auxiliary of Steele City will hold their annual poppy site on Saturday May 20. Watch for more definite announcement.

Degree of Honor lodge entertained the mothers Monday with a program and a covered dish meal. The Steele City Senior class night followed Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with speeches prophecies poems music and a chorus song. The church was decorated in class colors and attendance was good.
Pastor Earl V. M. Kendall of St. John’s Church in Fairbury begins a three month leave and departs Wednesday for a tour of the Holy Land. E. W. Kendall and wife of Steele City, and Mrs. A. T. Phelps travel to Fairbury to see him before departure.
The Reynolds family from Wichita Kansas moved to the Norman Dains farm south of Endicott. Mr Hansen and his mother and sister of Fairbury called at the John Jansen home south of Endicott. Mr and Mrs Malachy spent Sunday at the George Banahan home. Henry Meyers and family spent Friday evening at the Meyers Wine SH REP Crack.
Mr and Mrs Fred Kenning and their children Mildred and Leonard called at the John Jansgen home Sunday.
William Compton and his wife passed the day Sunday visiting at the Charley Compton residence, sharing time with family.
George Banahan his wife and son Dele spent Sunday evening at the natty Camprot athe, enjoying a quiet family outing.
Henry Williams and his wife with children spent Sunday in Washington Kansas visiting sister Mrs Brofidston and family. Everett Breazele returned home from Lincoln Sunday.
M Banahah and his wife joined J Ma and spouse in a family gathering to honor the first birthday of their grandson Dales a He Gadtoe Bandhad hottie Sakae, sharing a lighthearted tribute in a warm home setting.
