Also brief local notices about shoe shop repairs and district teaching assignments.

George McLachlin bought L G A Store from previous owner and took possession Monday. He will rename to Mac's Cash Grocery and keep Harry Allen as clerk while announcing planned changes to store layout and merchandise. Mrs McLachlin moved household goods from Lincoln for shipment to Steele City. T W Zoellin has not announced future plans.
Chas C Andrews honored last Sunday with family gathering in Steele City marking his seventieth birthday and 50 years in the town since moving from Geneseo Illinois in 1883. He farmed land given by his father and later ran mercantile grain and livestock businesses. Seven children born in Steele City after his 1887 marriage. the couple lived in town or on a northern farm throughout married life.
Mrs B A Greenwood hosted the Degree of Honor Lodge meeting on Monday night May 8 at her home. Guests were mothers, with program readings, solos, and reminiscences by members including Mrs Dottie Garrett Mrs Nellie Megonigle and Mrs Li A Greenwood. Refreshments for twenty one followed an invocation and group singing led by Mrs Bethel Cassell. A bird hunt invite extended to Woman's Club members by Mrs Wm Crane for Cedar Brook Farm May 18 with luncheon to follow.
Fay D. Clark of Steele City was elected prelate at the Knights of Pythias annual conference in Hastings as part of the state officer slate. The next convention will be in Fremont. An Inter-Community band concert directed by Frank Crinklaw is slated for Saturday May 13 at the Improvement Co. hall.
Mr and Mrs Deboer were Tuesday evening guests at the H Meyers home. Henry Meyers bought kaffir corn from Bill Compton Tuesday. Henry Zeibig sold calves to John Janssen Wednesday. Mr McFarlin and Mrs Long and a daughter and son spent Friday evening at John Janssen home. Henry Meyers sawed wood for Bill Compton Saturday. Geo Banahan and family spent Sunday at the J H Malady home. D Colegrove of Odell brought cattle to pasture south of Endicott Monday. Henry Meyers and wife attended the funeral of his uncle Mr Goca of Diller Monday. Word arrived Thursday evening of Carl Boehme’s death in Fairbury. John Thornburg and family visited Steele City relatives Sunday.
