Notice urges church members to fulfill pledges by next Sunday the 14th with offerings accepted at church or via Scharmano at Farmers State Bank Jefferson county farmers have until April 2 to enter the Nebraska pasture improvement contest. Delays in reed loans and bad weather pushed the original deadline.
The Ladies' Aid holds its regular April meeting on Tuesday April 22 at 2 30 in the afternoon with a large attendance hoped for to plan the coming year. Gratitude is given to Carl Mitchell for menu help and to Chester Wilcox for assisting him.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Thursday April 1 at 2:30 p.m. with Mrs Ray Green in Diller All members are urged to attend and new members will be received. Mrs Margaret Anderson has returned from a six week visit at her daughter’s home. An eight pound daughter was born February 16 to Mr and Mrs Ralph Cacek. Ivy Anderson moved equipment from near Diller to the Cacek farm near Steele City. Mrs J Thornburg and daughter Jacqueline of Western returned home Friday after visiting H W Haddix.
Notes show Clifford and Hipp and other visitors from Kansas and Nebraska calling on Mrs J C Wilson. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Allen Fulkers of Diller on Friday March 15. Several residents and guests from Fairbury Lincol n and Cheney visited local families over the weekend.
Presbyterian notice invites reflection on sin and forgiveness as the congregation recalls last Sunday service with the anthem Thee Will Love. It appeals for regular attendance and personal invitation for those absent. Sympathy offered to Mr and Mrs Wells Andrews on infant son’s funeral held in Diller last Tuesday.
The Men's Club sponsored a well attended Father and Son banquet last Friday. W. C. Palmer, P. A. Duig, and Virgil Bugbee led the committee. Toasts by Chester Wilcox, Edward Cassell, C. A. Bugbee, and Harold Manley, with singing by Harlan Gehrt and music from Miss Margaret Gretzinger’s orchestra. Rev. A. S. Dodgson spoke. Over 100 men and boys attended. Upcoming: county Sunday school convention on April 1 at the Fairbury Christian church and the annual congregational meeting on Tuesday evening April 2.
The Woman's Club met at Mrs. Howard Drake's home on March 21 with nineteen members. Officers elected for the coming year include President Mrs. D.G. Cassell, Vice President Miss Susan Paylong, Treasurer Miss Nell Drake, and Secretary Mrs. George McLichtin. A program committee was appointed and a luncheon was served. Gladys Pucket daughter of James Stevens of Narka Kansas and Roy Godden son of Mr and Mrs John Godden of Steele City were quietly married Wednesday evening March 27 at 7 o clock in the Godden home. Rev John E Filinger pastor of the Steele City Presbyterian church performed the ceremony. The couple will reside on a farm southwest of Narka on the bride’s father’s land.
Readable fragments describe a pineapple chicken loaf with pineapple syrup, crushed bread crumbs, paprika, eggs, and shredded tuna can be used. The method includes mixing ingredients, packing into a loaf pan, and baking at a hot oven for about forty five minutes to serve eight.
H. M. Manning presented a black-face comedy act before the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening. Local residents saw him in the act at Mrs. Wright's public speaking class presentation.

Tree shipments to Jefferson County farmers arrive March 27 from Haley Nebraska and Fremont Nebraska prepaid by parcel post with planting instructions. Corporal Donald Fahrenwald to arrive Fort Meade on a 30 day furlough April 1 to visit parents. DeliN Morgan and others prepare to leave for Omaha on business. Miss Orth of Fairbury returns home from Steele City after seven weeks under Dr J N Morgan. Calvin Sampson of Fort Robinson returns to duties after two weeks with parents.
