Presbyterian Church Seeks Lent Devotion and Member Return
The Presbyterian Church invites members to enter Lent with solemn spirit and renewed attendance. The M Society meets next Wednesday afternoon at the manse. Officers will be elected and year-end matters discussed. Youth planning to join this church at faster are urged to attend Sunday school next Sunday for the Shorter Catechism study, with parental cooperation requested. The service theme was The Sense of Hearing and the choir sang Thee Will I Love. Many have missed services due to bad weather and illness and are urged to return and attend regularly through Master. Mrs Filinger visited Kansas City and Rev Filinger accompanied her home Wednesday evening.

Mr Else lived one mile north of Hollenberg for forty years.

Eastern Star Holds Course of Instruction in Diller
A special Eastern Star meeting in Diller featured an afternoon school of instruction with Steele City attendees led by Mrs. L. L. Earhart and others. Miss Margaret Gretzinger and Miss Lucille Taylor joined later for supper and the evening session. The Steele City town team beat Fairbury CCC camp 18 to 21 to finish the season with eight wins in nine games. Steele City players included Wells Andrews Bud Fisher Dwight Lowe Paul Lampe Kenneth Menefee Johnnie Fisher and George Loth.

Birthday celebration and community moves in Rock Creek area
Miss Mildred Kenning celebrated her birthday at her home with friends and neighbors bringing baskets of delicacies for the noon meal. Ova Swett helped Emil Novotny move to a Doren farm on Rock Creek and Clyde Criner moved to Leo Crose’s farm after purchasing it. Frank Novotny lost a cow and calf in the storm and Emil Novotny lost a horse earlier in the week.
