Steele City News Knits Summer Happenings Here

Local items report church meeting for July 2, calls for piano or voice students, ambulance service at Fairbury, visits by visitors from Reynolds to Steele City, and numerous travels including trips to Yellowstone. Baseball schedules tie Steele City and Fairbury for July Fourth with plans for away games and a home coming August 23.

Hail Storm Impacts Rocky Hollow Residents

The Rocky Hollow area suffered heavy losses from a Thursday morning hail storm. Residents including Mrs. Henry Meyers and Mrs. Will Delover were noted socially, with farmers Will Koch and Fred Kenning in town. The Walter James place barn was moved off its foundation by the storm Friday morning. Maxine Earhart returned to Steele after studying at the University of Kansas and planned to spend vacation with her parents.

Presbyterian Church Actions Bring Community News

Church notes report Miss Helen Poe spoke on Jesus and Nationalism for the Young Woman's Guild. Plans include a July pre Fourth service with special choir music. Bible School ended with 25 enrolled. A Boy Scout troop is planned with meetings Wednesdays at 7:00. A marriage between Calvin Sampson and Edith Cripp was celebrated last Wednesday. Ladies Aid meets next Tuesday. Board of Trustees gathers Wednesday at the bank. Knights of Pythias memorial service held with record attendance. Outdoor canyon gathering for the youth occurred Sunday evening. Subscriptions and local promotions are also noted.

Brides Welcome at Steele City Shower and Local News Gatherings

Mrs. Calvin Sampson as guest of honor at a June 25 miscellaneous shower at the Carl Lampe home. Hostesses included Mrs. Frances Kersting Mrs. Penrye Lawrence and Mrs. Gladys Lampe. Arlen Lampe presented gifts in a decorated wagon. A list of local guests and attendees is noted. Activities include camp outings visits by the Bairds and other social events at the Cassell home and the Denver Community Chest official Jay Justis stop in Steele City.

Lincoln man a Quest of Mr and Mrs McLachlin

Larry Welch of Lincoln was a Quest of Mr. and Mrs. George McLachlin Wednesday. A two day picnic and home coming will be held in Steele City on August 23. Shirley McLachlin is in Scrib ner visiting her cousins the Arner children. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Fred Novatny near Diller on Friday June 21. Leon Haddix and family of Westerns visited relatives here last Sunday.
