Scott Methodist Church Hosts Summer Activities

Charles F. Luscher, pastor, invites Sunday school at 10 a m morning worship and an evening service. A June 29 cream social by the Ladies Auxiliary. drive darts away at day’s end. Several local residents visited, returned, or attended events in Steele City and nearby towns.

W C Lf U Meeting and local option petitions noted

The W C Lf U will meet with Mrs. Woods northeast of town on July. All members and friends invited. The W C T U Society circulates petitions for local option in this fall state county vote. Parents should be interested in this matter. Loaned tools are being returned. C Hutchinson of Diller Nebraska campaigns for county commissioner first district and may register in August.

Recreation notes reveal county meeting and upcoming games

A Steele City recreation gathering discussed a Reynolds county picnic to be announced later and plans to visit Diller and Reynolds for softball. The Croquet court was improved and a noon anniversary was observed with local families attending. Wind and rain damaged crops reported. repair work noted.

Presbyterian Church Weekend Notes and Fellowship Events

The church held Sunday morning worship with Sunday school, a morning sermon on family duties, and an outdoor youth meeting in the evening. Seniors gathered at 6 30 for a planned outdoor event. An Israel Humicutt funeral was noted, with sympathy extended to the family. A later seniors meeting included a discussion on vacation planning and reflections on faith. Many attendees contributed baskets and a cafeteria diaper was provided for attendees.

Israel Hunnicutt born September 6 1845 Wilsonville Ohio died June 16 1938 at home Steele City Nebraska age 92 years 9 months 10 days oldest of six children survived by five children twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren funeral services held Sunday at 2 30 from the Presbyterian church in Steele City with Rev J P Ingersoll and others. burial in Steele City Cemetery.
