Lorraine Cassell and pupils staged a rural school program featuring a daily routine, tap dance, recitations, and a fathers convention. Community updates include street work and culvert replacement, Project Club plans for December 10, Thanksgiving visits, hospital stays, and local visitors and travels among Steele City residents.
Presbyterian Church marks four hundredth anniversary of the English Bible with the Word as theme. Missionary Society meets with Mrs Lowe Wednesday afternoon. Christmas meeting promotes Christ's peace in hearts and homes. ladies urged to attend. Youth group enjoyed a party last Friday with games. Last Sunday Service praised by a large congregation. Lois Drake led the evening youth meeting. Pharaby Boileau read scripture. Ruth Gretzinger prayed. Donald Winner leads next Sunday. Encouragement to attend for high school age and above. invites regulars to come two Sundays in a row.
The twenty third annual Thanksgiving dinner was held at the home of Mr and Mrs J H Malady with nearly forty relatives and friends attending despite bad weather. Names of attendees include Mrs Jane Compton Wm Compton and others from Compton and Kenning families. The group plans to gather again next Thanksgiving at Mrs Jane Compton’s home. A birthday basket dinner at George Kenning’s home followed. Opal Compton arrived in Chicago tied to 4‑H Club work and national convention. Several local residents shared visits and aid throughout the week with Thanksgiving events noted.
The Woman's Missionary Society plans a December 11 meeting at Mrs. Lowe's home with Gretzinger presenting Christmas around the World and Mrs Andrews on Home Makers and Peace. Thanksgiving guests included Gretzinger family at Reuben Gretzinger’s home and Drake family visiting from Nebraska.
The Steele City community has met its Red Cross quota of 19.50, raised by W C Palmer who has solicited funds for several years and forwarded the total to Fairbury. The Project Club met with the Ladies Aid on Tuesday with 29 ladies present, learning to craft neckties aprons sun bonnets plaques toys and book-ends.
