Young Woman's Guild Meeting Arranged for December 10

The Young Woman's Guild will meet with Miss Susan Taylor on Thursday December 10. Miss Isabell Fahreiwald will assist. Miss Dorothy Shepherd leads devotionals and Mrs. Harley Tarapp conducts the session titled Forms of Worship.

Presbyterians Seek Attendance as Mission Closes

A church preacher invites all locals to attend the remaining three preaching mission gatherings noting God has blessed the meetings. A dedication service is planned for Sunday night with emphasis on community participation and prayer. Various church groups announce upcoming meetings and a Christmas gathering with Blessings Boxes to be dedicated.

Ladies' Aid Bazaar at Presbyterian Church Well Attended

The Ladies' Aid bazaar and social in the Presbyterian church parlors drew a strong crowd on Wednesday evening. Supper was cafeteria style from decorated booths and a program featured silhouetted Christmas scenes with vocal numbers and a "Man on the Street" act.

District 88 Hosts Thanksgiving Program Then Plans Dec 18 Dinner

Last Wednesday evening patrons of School District No 88 gathered at the school house for a covered dish dinner followed by a short Thanksgiving program by the pupils. Plans are under way for a plate supper and program on December 18.

W C T U Meeting and Local Infrastructure Notes

The W C T U will meet with Mrs Albert Hance on Friday December 11. Graveling of the road from Highway 3S to the state line will begin soon with gravel from Gretzinger pit hauled by six trucks stationed locally. The Omaha District Navy Recruiting Service will accept 100 to 150 desirable applicants monthly for several months. Otis Allen and wife and Alfred and Martha Lohse visited the H H Adee home last Thursday evening. Lou Wolf is building a 3000 bushel corncrib at his farm nearby with OUke Franzen in charge. The weather has been warmer than usual but moisture is scarce and a serious threat. Mrs Nate Cady has been seriously ill in the past three weeks. A son was born December 3 to Mr and Mrs Calvin Sampson. J E Hughes and H Manning were Lincoln visitors Monday. The 1937 membership drive shows Jefferson County farmers will not discontinue Extension Activities.
