The inter community band expresses appreciation to Steele City business men for the fine watermelons provided to band members after the Wednesday night concert.
Freda Greenwood Gayle Gar ber Marcella Derrick Nettie Godden and Mildred Kenning attend a three day Vitalized Agriculture course led by the county superintendent of schools.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Malin and son Jack of Maxville Kansas visited Mrs Bertha Garber with Mr and Mrs Wm Jarchow and daughter Ina May of Daykin for Sunday dinner.
Mrs Alfred Drexler and son Freddie visited Kasparek home on Tuesday from Barneston. Mr Drexler and daughter Mary arrived on Thursday for the family visit.
Frank Crinklaw discovered a large Indian arrow head or spear head this week along the Little Sandy River south of Powell.
Mr and Mrs Otis Jones of Holmesville Kansas and niece Laree Powell of Lincoln visited Charles Harper and family in Adams from Friday to Sunday. A Sunday school picnic was held Wednesday evening on the Presbyterian church lawn with Mr and Mrs Albert Meleaper in attendance.
E B Nelson and family dined with Miss Helen Wehling on Friday. Loree Caulk left for Fresno to visit Emma Shultz. W D Heady and wife visited in Fairbury. Kuper visiting in the Greenwood home. Dr Leach dentist in Fairbury. H R Rucker and family from Marysville KS visited relatives. Grothuis of Venango called on Steele City friends. Elmer Kersting and wife bought a Buick in Lincoln. Franzen worked for school district No 80. Kerstings visited Lincoln guests of Crinklaws. Crinklaws from Lincoln visited parents in Steele City. Ray Lee, guest at Goldsberry home, returned to Lincoln with Floyd Goldsberry. Jefferies visited in the Sampson home, returned to Kearney. Wallace Palmer family and Hebron visitors dined with Deems and Palmer families. Ernest Lawrence and Marcella Derrick drove to Emmet KS. Lawrence returned with them, then left Sunday. Ralph Arner family visited Lincoln with Arner's parents Wells. Wells, recently injured, remains in hospital with limited improvement. Mrs Ella Kerr Babcock and daughter Wealthy in Lincoln seeking specialist. returned home Sunday then left by auto for Rochester for further tests.
Mrs Clarence Darling left for Norton Kansas to be with Mrs Etta Drake and plans calls on Mrs M L Inman in Calvert Kansas and her brother Jim Cassell in McCook Nebraska. She is joined by Mrs W O Bundy of Fairbury. The Nebraska State fair playground offers free two hour sessions from 9am to 6pm September 3 to 9 with a playground director and camp fire girls assisting.

Carl and Lewis Backes completed an addition to Fred Kenning’s farm residence three miles west of Steele City on Wednesday. The project extends the home and reflects local farming growth in the area.
Ed Wright painted the Allen Bridwell residence this week. F. W. Lowe and J. H. Davis transacted business at McPherson Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kenning visited P. O. Bartley in Fairbury Tuesday evening. Lou Wolf and Mrs. L. Earhart with two daughters drove to North Loop returning Monday. Harry Weddel and family of Carleton visited uncles Charles and Arthur Weddell here last Sunday. Mrs F W Lowe and son Charles traveled by auto to Indianola Nebraska for a few days to see relatives. Clair Darling hauled two loads of hogs to Steele City Wednesday for Fred Kenning and Abbo Roelfs.
