Rain Tuesday night washed away the filling on both sides of bridge 140 near the Coons farm southeast of town. Train 501 due at 2 22 a m was held until 2 p m. Train 644 from the west was delayed four hours due to track washouts.

Obituary Alfred Mill Wilcox Dies at 84 in 1933
Alfred Mill Wilcox was born March 24 1849 in Grundy County Illinois and died August 20 1933 at Odell Hospital at age 84 years 4 months and 2 days. He moved from Illinois to Nebraska in 1880 and resided near Steele City. He married Anna Irena Wing in 1880 and had seven children, survived by his wife Myron C. Wilcox brother and five children Lena Adeline Dill Alfred Milo Chester H Emily Irene Steffen and Paul W plus seventeen grandchildren. He remained active in Methodist and Presbyterian churches, respected as a devoted husband father and citizen.

Farmers Union picnic set for Sandman’s Grove north of Harbine
The Farmers Union picnic will be held at Sandman’s Grove three miles north of Harbine on Tuesday August 29 starting at nine o’clock. Roosevelt Re-enlists 300000 CCC Men for Six Months
President Roosevelt announced that 300000 Civilian Conservation Corps men will be reenlisted for another six months. He will send each man a personal letter urging him to seek employment elsewhere if possible without displacing another worker. About 450 of 1450 camps will be moved from snow regions before winter.
