Francis Howe his wife and son Roger of Beatrice spent Sunday at the H C Andersen home. Mrs Mary I Griffin of Marquette visiting here returned with the Howes for a brief visit before heading home. Tell advertisers you saw it in the News.
The Cretonian Male Glee Club led by Professor George H. Aller will perform next Sunday evening at the Union Church in Fairbury with Rev. George McClelland delivering the sermon. Several Steele City residents attended the Hanover celebration.
The State-Line Church led by Rev. Mark Vordemann plans its annual Sunday-school picnic on Sunday August 20 six and one half miles southeast of Steele City in the grove near the Lou Leuhring Place. A program will be staged in the afternoon with ice cream and refreshments and the usual games and fellowship expected.
The pastor and family enjoy a vacation after visiting relatives in Kansas and traveling to Estes Park Colorado. Congregation members received messages from the pastor and Mrs Filingers who plan to return to Steele City to resume duties and urge renewed church activity and attendance. The notice also lists a booth sale of onions peppers potatoes cucumbers and more and mentions property and probate notices in Jefferson County Nebraska.
Creditors of the estate of Margaret Jane Simmons are notified to present and file debts by November 20, 1995 in Jefferson County Court. The court will hear why all sections of the state statutes may not apply and set a date for final settlement.
Ten bands will perform at the sixth annual Band Festival in City Park Fairbury on Sunday August 24. Participating groups include Diller Plymouth Fairbury Beatrice Geneva Wilber Swanton Cuba Washington and Marysville with each band allotted about a half hour.
K E Curry and family hosted Paul and Donald of Cotlocco Oklahoma, with many relatives visiting. Zweifel left Boise Idaho to visit relatives and tour. Sultz and Mary Braman Oklahoma visited sister Lyat Derrick. Nemopick, Otto NHlee, Maurice Roberts and families from Kansas Nebraska were guests. Chas Justis learned sister Lide Roberts died in Douglas North Dakota aged 14, with nephews Jesse Gustin Vern and Ray Justis nearby. Mrs George Parks and Merna Ceerle planned visit to Greeley and Colorado Springs before returning home.

They had previously lived on a local farm and now recall old ties with Noah Handley and George Roseman.
County Superintendent Genevieve Clark announced personal conferences with rural teachers this week to roll out a new plan aimed at boosting cooperation between teachers and the county office. The plan offers early access to assistance as schools reopen and seeks to resolve forthcoming issues. Many county schools will begin on Monday August 30. John Gretzinger and family of Kansas City Missouri visited Reuben Gretzinger and attended the Diller picnic before visiting Adam Gretzinger who is ill. E O Cassell was a Lincoln business visitor earlier in the week.
