Local residents hosted and visited relatives and friends across Sabetha Steele City Dodge City Bridgeport and Beatrice area. Several trips included Mrs Wohlbrandt Mrs Davis and families plus outings to St Joseph and Reynolds. An obituary notes May Porter’s death at 79 in Belleview Kansas.

Berniece Gretzinger daughter of Mr and Mrs A H Gretzinger Steele City was among 247 graduates at the summer session close. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Teachers College as the University awarded 3 Doctor of Philosophy degrees 84 masters and 13 certificates.
The Village Board met in regular session with Chairman Fahrenwald presiding. Bills were presented and allowed totaling 446.26. Receipts to the general fund taxes refund and transfer from savings were noted. The meeting adjourned with signatures of Chairman Fahrenwald and Clerk Vernon L. Haddix.
Mr and Mrs Dayton Aden and Mr and Mrs Jacob Kell and children of Fort Wayne Indiana visited Friday for a week with Mrs Aden's brother Ouke Franzen and wife and with Mrs Aden's sister Miss Elsie Franzen.
Orrin J. Wing and daughter Mrs. Nelle Megonigie moved Monday from the Drexler property into Mrs. A. T. Phelps residence. Bill Kelly and family moved Tuesday into the property vacated by Mr. Wing.
Mrs E A Bulleaby and Mrs Maude Denney of Fairbury visited relatives Thursday. Arthur Hardesty hosted guests Van Tinnel Opal Tinnnel and Mrs John Terry. Steele City youths attended Hanover picnic. Friday marks final day of the big annual two day event in Diller amid recent showers and cooler weather.
The Weekly Grain Market Review reports unsettled markets with firmer tone for wheats at Laverport and Winnipeg, as new spring wheat marketing and funds flows influence values. Burley futures hold steady to slightly higher while corn markets remain steady, rye falls to around two cents per bushel, and malt barley faces mixed demand.
Rev. R. L. Williama of Carroll Nebraska will preach Sunday morning as a candidate. Congregational meeting scheduled for Sunday August 20 with expected large attendance. Jean Zoellia undergone an operation in Rochester Monday. reported Thursday she is doing well. Haircut 25c and shave price cut at Staley Barber Shop effective August 10. Virginia Lee, Hastings College graduate, visited Erdine Haddix at H. W. Haddix home. Lawrence Carmichael returned to Lincoln. Andrew Hardesty and wife and wife visited in Fairbury Tuesday. E J Wells and wife went to Liven on Sourday.

A Sunday school pinch at Fairbury Clay Park is set for August 13 at 1 o’clock, with attendees bringing blankets and sandwiches. The Gage County Fair runs August 14 to 18 with eight auto races on Monday and daily horse racing. Andrew Hardesty reports three five-year-old plum trees yielding an estimated eighteen bushes. Louis Kozak and family travel to Rochester for Arthur Kozak’s operation, with a positive update.
E W Baird and family returned to Pacific Junction Iowa Friday after a brief visit with relatives. Floyd Hughes and wife are on a two weeks vacation touring towns in Missouri Arkansas and Texas.
