Monument Remembering Sioux Rescue Near Fort Pierre
Mobridge hosts unveilings June 11 and 16 for a monument honoring a small band of friendly Redskins who rescued seven captives and saved two women during 1842 hostilities. The Walworth Old Settlers' Association funded the base with state support, and Doane Robertson supplies a historical sketch in a South Dakota history volume.
