Balloon accident at exposition injures crowd and driver
A rope and parachute failure during a balloon display near the Exposition yesterday sent a driver named Jordan from Raleigh roughly forty feet into the crowd. He suffered a crushed jaw, facial injuries, a dislocated wrist, and other wounds but is reported to be recovering at home. Mrs Hawkins, seated by the balloon chute, was unharmed though spectators watched in horror as the parachute malfunction triggered the deadly fall.
