Special to the State Chronicle Winston North Carolina September 30 Winston claims the South title after defeating Richmond 19 to 7 in a decisive game. Winston exploded for six runs in the first inning eight in the second and three in the ninth as Richmond used three pitchers without success. A McGann pitched seven innings with a sore arm and his brother finished the last two.

A freight train collision with a passenger car near Kent Ohio on the New York Pennsylvania and Ohio line left three dead and twenty four injured seven fatally.
