Deschamps Executed for 12 Year Old Victim’s Death

New Orleans May 13 Et ting Deschamps a 61 year old quack doctor was hanged in the jail yard at 1 10 this afternoon He enticed and ruined Juliette Dietsch aged 12 daughter of a French upholsterer The murderer and victim were found January 30 1889 in the doctor s room nude the girl dead Deschamps attempted suicide twice but survived and was later tried and found guilty with indisputable evidence.

In San Antonio a dispatch from northern Mexico says Garza’s revolutionaries clashed with cavalry at DaMeca. Government forces claim victory, ten insurgents killed, and pursuit continues signaling a renewed uprising. John Cox Hanged After 1888 Murder in Jones County

John Cox a 25 year old African American was hanged at Trenton in Jones County at 2 pm for the 1888 killing of William Sutton. He claimed self defense stating Sutton pursued him with a knife as he fled. Cox received last rites and died declaring he would go to heaven. A witness from New Bern attended the execution.
