Internal Revenue officers seized the Philip Klein and Son brewery at 2309 Wallace Street after a raid uncovered an illicit rum distillery with 1200 gallon capacity. Revenue Agent E A Alexander and Deputy Collector A Mason led the four month investigation and entered an upper room to confiscate warm spirits. Philip Klein Jr was jailed on $1500 bail for a further hearing. the senior Klein, ill and confined to bed, was not disturbed.
Shelby voters adopt high license with a 147 to 134 margin. The town ends eighteen years of dryness and sets annual license fees at 1000 dollars.

George T Richardson, a laborer, survived a failed wrecking bid on the northbound Southern Pacific near Drain Oregon.
