One of Barnum's show attaches known nationwide as The Man with the Iron Jaw died in Fall River yesterday after a storm disrupted a performance a week ago and the cold led to pneumonia. He was famed for immense muscular power and could lift two ordinary men with his strong jaw.
A powder mill near Waverly twelve miles from Hartrax exploded, shattering the building and blowing out parts of the mill. About forty tons of powder were stored there. no lives were lost. Meanwhile two thousand dollars were subscribed locally for Drum mond miners widows and orphans relief.
Robert E. Blair died after being shot Sunday night in a Nashoua barroom. Diehl acted without warning drawing and firing a pistol at Blair after a tense exchange, marking the city’s first murder.

Albany May 20 The committee report on charges against Mutual Life Insurance Co chairman Winslow finds main charges proven. It says Winslow used company funds to influence Albany legislation and that about 200000 bonds were distributed to New York officers. The report discusses payments to State Superintendent Miller to pass an act and policies renewed after the death of Winslow's son. Majority report supports an act relating to the order of arrest.
Reports from New York May 20 state all servants of R. M. Blatchford at No 6 East Fourteenth Street are recovering from poisoning. Arsenic suspected in corned beef. meat to be analyzed with results due soon. No household suspicion, but arsenic use in slaughterhouses offered as explanation.
