An elderly white woman named Susan Hansen was murdered near Nashville when she was hanged to a cross-beam beside her house. Two men are under suspicion, but their names are not yet known as the inquest jury investigates.
A riot in the western part of the city yesterday morning involved supporters of Elder Shores pastor of the Missionary Colored Beret church and his opponents who have elected a new tor. The door was forced by opponent women and a battle ensued with Shores party prevailing. Alexander Booth, a colored man, was badly but not dangerously wounded and several rioters were arrested.
March 27 forecast from the Weather Bureau Washington notes a high pressure area extending over the Ohio Valley and eastward bringing light winds and clear cold weather. Southerly winds and rising temperatures are expected in the Gulf states and Western Alabama with clearing skies by Thursday afternoon.
Washington March 26 Congressman Windom of Minnesota introduces a resolution asking the select committee on tractation routes to inquiry into the nature and extent of obligations facing the government relating to transportation to the seaboard and to report at the next Senate session.

Geo W Walters was fined $10 and costs after conviction for assault and battery on C H Kendall in Police Court this morning. Both men live on Walnut Hills and the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute triggered by Kendall sending an insulting note to Walters wife.
