A Wisconsin man was arrested in Chicago by Officer Wm. McGarrigan for stealing about eight thousand dollars worth of diamonds from his father. Diamonds found on him. father declines to prosecute. J N Silverthorn of Evansville publishes a long letter praising the honor and requesting a presentation speech, with playful references to flags, hunting gear, and patriotic memory. The missive ends urging national remembrance as the vessel bears the name Sousa Commodore RobIn.
An English journal notes Aberdeen Scotland hosts the most extensive comb factory with 36 furnaces and 120 iron presses for horn and tortoise shell. Steam powers cutting and stamping. daily output reaches 8,000,000 varied combs. Hoof and horn materials drive vast consumption and a hoof undergoes eleven operations to finish a comb. A separate Tuscarawas Valley strike threat endangers thousands of jobs.
