Reports from Halva x on April 3 1878 detail survivors of the Atlantic wreck totaling 424 saved, including 124 cabin passengers. About 546 are believed lost from a ship carrying 800 steerage passengers and 148 crew. Many walked ashore or reached land by wagon or steamer, with 57 bodies found as fishermen recover more.
