Fight for museum site moves to Joliet City Council

Joliet Historical Society and supporters prepare to present their case to the Joliet City Council next Tuesday at 3 pm. After more than two years of effort, spokesmen Frank Fitzgerald Ray Lindblad and Mrs. William Limacher lead a push to create a museum park and historical site at Bluff Street Plaza, gaining wider local interest in recent months.

Weeds and Bluff St Plaza Museum Proposal

The Joliet Park District backs a Westphal Bank site museum at Bluff St Plaza, seeking city purchase. The Historical Society appeals to Senators Douglas and Dirksen and U S Urban Renewal officials for cooperation. Proposals include exchanging park acres for the bank site and creating a landscaped center with a 200 foot wing. Continued on Page 6.
