Two Injured In Auto Accidents In City

Two people were hospitalized after separate auto related crashes. Miss Netta Converse, 66, of 1200 Benton Street, suffered a fractured leg and possible internal injuries when hit by a car driven by Wayne Engle, near Collins and Benton streets. Engle reported the woman stepped from between parked cars. Converse is in critical condition at Silver Cross Hospital. An unidentified man with a skull fracture, found on Collins Street near Riley's Hill, was also admitted in critical condition to Silver Cross Hospital. He wore blue overalls and a brown leather jacket. no identification was found on his person.

Will Aid City Target Panhandlers Joliet Policy

Joliet to curb panhandling with a policy announced by Chief of Police Nicholas Fornango. Men found guilty of panhandling will be sentenced to Vandalia state farm under the issued ruling.

Assailant Flees After Alley Stabbing At North Bluff Street

A dispute among several men near 1001 North Bluff Street ended in the stabbing death of Mikado Brzenia, 40, of Coal City, and injuries to Petra Kistello and Ranulfo Chaviz. Police seek Conorado Hernandez, 38, of 1006 North Bluff Street, as the killer after he fled the scene with an ice pick. Brzenia died en route to St Joseph's hospital. the other two injuries are non fatal. Hernandez had prior trouble and a motorcycle officer once pursued him near Scott and Columbia streets.

Baby Girl Born in Auto at St Josephs Hospital

The Bianco family of 306 Bennit street welcomed their first child, an eight pound daughter, born just as the car stopped at the doorway of St. Josephs hospital. Father carried the infant inside with help from a passerby. The mother, 16, and baby were reported doing nicely.
