Joliet city council was urged by the Public Housing Administration to repay at least 37 091.72 to halt work on six of eight proposed low rent sites. Auditors warn costs could rise further through Sept 30 1957 and if condemnation suits are dismissed. Acquisition cost of the land stood at 12 052 dollars.

Weather halts Mack Street paving project progress

A weather delay halted paving on a four block Mack Street project until rain ceased. The dispute over the work is resolved and equipment returned from Wisconsin. A spokesman said three days are needed to apply soil concrete and cure the surface before completion.
